Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage inpatient and outpatient access functions within the Patient Access Services Department. You will conduct patient interviews, verify demographics, and determine insurance/benefits while ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED, strong communication and customer service skills, and experience with healthcare software.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work rotating schedules based on needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service oriented mindset.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Ability to work every other weekend.
• Ability to work three out of six holidays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality interviews with patients for inpatient/outpatient access.
• Gather patient identification and verify demographics.
• Screen Medicare/Medicaid/managed care patients for network status and benefits.
• Obtain required patient consents/ attestations.
• Perform scheduling, bed planning, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, and point-of-service cash collection under supervision.
• Maintain adherence to quality standards and a positive patient experience.
