Job summary

SBNC in Goleta, CA is seeking a Patient Access Navigator to support patient-centered care by collecting data, verifying insurance, and providing first-line billing and scheduling assistance.

You will input demographics in the EPM, support population health management, collect income proofs, manage payments, and coordinate with care teams to ensure timely access to services; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. A high school diploma is required; Medical Billing/MA certificate is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a medical or dental care setting or related training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel.
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish as well as English; provide outstanding customer service.
• Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology and minimum keyboard speed of 45 WPM.

Responsibilities

• Maintains exemplary customer service with patients, vendors, staff and visitors.
• Supports SBNC’s Patient Centered Medical Home care teams.
• Registers new patients in EPM and verifies eligibility; inputs demographics, insurance, social determinants into EPM.
• Collects income proofs and inputs sliding fee scale data into EPM.
• Ensures consent forms are completed and scanned into EHR.
• Assists with medical records release forms to coordinate care.
• Schedules patients for follow-up appointments and manages queues for MAs.
• Answers incoming calls promptly and reviews next day schedule.
