Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Registration/Insurance Verification Liaison to support admissions and revenue cycle processes at our Schertz, TX facility. You will collect and verify patient demographics, verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and pursue collections as needed.

The role requires at least 1 year of relevant healthcare experience, strong English communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting required; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to Admissions and handling of Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service at all times by understanding customer needs and building quality relationships.
• Answer telephone professionally; record messages and relay to appropriate medical staff.
• Provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and ensure correct payor and plan in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Maximize collection efficiency by pursuing payments at the time of service.
• Scan registration and clinical documents into the system and maintain medical records.
• Assist with transferring patients to other hospitals when necessary.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer per policies and keep logs of patients, payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
• Maintain a clean front desk area and assist with deliveries and maintenance requests.
