Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of varied insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred in certain markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, HIPAA and government regulations compliance in Admissions.
• Provide exceptional customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify and correctly triage patients upon arrival to the hospital.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to support revenue cycle processes.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations when applicable.
• Assist with collections at the time of service in a service-oriented manner.
• Scan and file medical records; handle transfers between hospitals as needed.
