Job summary

Emerus is seeking an Admissions Liaison to facilitate patient tracking and billing by collecting accurate demographic information and securing out-of-pocket payments. You will support Patient Financial Services and coordinate with the care team to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Ideal candidates have 3 years in patient registration and insurance verification, with strong customer service. ED experience is preferred, and MS Office skills are required for daily operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 3 years patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, required.
• Emergency Department experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology
• Excellent customer service
• Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook), strongly preferred.
• Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all applicable regulations in Admissions.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as required.
• Verify and enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-friendly manner.
