Responsibilities

• Obtain and validate insurance coverage and benefit details for new patients, plan updates, and changes in patient ID numbers to ensure payer compliance.
• Perform weekly and annual eligibility checks to verify active coverage, plan type, and primary/secondary designations.
• Communicate patient financial obligations (deductibles, coinsurance, copay, balances) clearly to patients.
• Process patient payments, maintain financial contracts, and update overdue balances.
• Act as primary contact to facilitate communication with patients about benefits and responsibilities.
• Assist patients with grant applications, perform coverage checks in Waystar, and manage grant portal data.
• Schedule patient appointments and arrange transportation for insurance-covered or grant-supported travel needs.
• Review daily/monthly reports to correct missing/incorrect system information and reduce claim errors.
• Ensure submission of clean claims and reduce payer denials by following policies and procedures.
• Assist with special projects using Excel/Google Sheets and report results.
• Protect PHI per HIPAA standards.
