Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a Front Office Supervisor to oversee daily operations of registration and HIM functions under the Patient Access and Insurance Verification Manager. The role includes staff supervision, scheduling, training, and ensuring timely admissions with professional service.

The position requires two years of health care experience in a patient access environment; supervisory experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of billing processes and compliance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates the daily activities of the front office staff.
• Manages staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and provides training on an initial and ongoing basis.
• Ensures admission processes are completed in a timely and efficient manner, and customers are provided with a professional, caring level of service.
• Oversees the medical records process including the assembly, maintenance, and storage of records in accordance with Surgery Center policies.
• Explains forms regarding conditions of admission, patient rights and responsibilities, advanced directives, privacy practices and other facility policies as required.
• Explains patients’ benefits with knowledge of billing and managed care contracts.
• Assists in resolving patient questions or concerns that require a higher-level response in a prompt and informative manner.
• Tracks patient satisfaction scores related to the registration function and reports those scores monthly.
• Makes recommendations and implements changes to increase satisfaction scores as appropriate.
• Responsible for tracking compliance with Medical Records improvement initiatives and communicates findings to management.
• Works with executive leadership to stay abreast with new regulations and helps implement changes in policies and procedures.
• Assists with the development of department goals and objectives.
• Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
• Must be HIPAA compliant.
