Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance information, and support front-desk operations. Preferred candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree and have healthcare exposure or familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 0–2 years’ experience in a customer service position.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guests, confirm identity, and provide information related to their visit.
• Complete check-in and check-out functions as directed.
• Confirm and update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Complete patient registration as needed and obtain consents/authorizations.
• Collect co-payments and other payments; post payments and perform end-of-day cash drawer closing.
• Maintain a clean waiting area and inform patients of delays or changes in status.
• Schedule appointments as necessary and assist with other duties as assigned.
