Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support front-desk operations in a patient-centered environment. You will check patients in/out, collect payments, and ensure accurate registration and communication about appointments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 0–2 years in customer service; healthcare experience and medical terminology knowledge are a plus, with bilingual skills preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in a customer service position.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous healthcare setting experience and knowledge of medical terminology are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and guests, confirms identity, and provides information related to visits.
• Performs check-in/out functions as directed.
• Updates patient identification and demographic/insurance information.
• Registers patients as needed and obtains consents/authorizations.
• Collects co-payments and balances; posts payments and closes cash drawer at day end.
• Keeps waiting area clean and informs patients of delays or changes.
• Schedules appointments and may float to other clinics as needed.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
