Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations; stay updated on insurance pre-certification requirements.
• Strong mathematical aptitude, communication skills, and critical thinking.
• Understanding of anatomy and medical terminology for referral and pre-authorization processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers; maintain professional demeanor in calls.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage arrival flow for efficient service.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Complete registrations for walk-ins and collect balances.
• Follow Financial Clearance policy and refer to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Assist patients with financial responsibilities and collect payments.
• Close visits, schedule follow-ups, and provide necessary documents.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and accepted insurance plans.
• Identify process improvements and communicate issues to management.
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets and collaborate with staff.
• Maintain professional relations with patients, families, and clinical staff.
