Job summary

North Austin Maternal is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, verify demographics, and coordinate with providers and staff. This role functions as a liaison between patients and practice support staff within a healthcare setting.

The position emphasizes accuracy in data entry, understanding insurance details, and maintaining patient confidentiality while delivering courteous, professional service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• 1 year of high-volume phone/call experience preferred.
• 1 year of medical terminology/healthcare experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to transcribe accurately.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments.
• Verification and accurate entry of patient demographics.
• Select accurate insurance carrier plans and informs the patient of any carrier that is out of network.
• Inform the patient of any testing requirements according to scheduling module; communicate orders with staff.
• Ensure that edits are performed in the EMR and practice management tools.
• Protect patient confidentiality and provide excellent patient care.
