Responsibilities

• Check in patients for appointments and verify demographics.
• Ensure all check-in procedures are completed and monitor patient wait times; communicate changes to the patient.
• Read and interpret general guidelines and insurance requirements to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
• Ensure patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information; obtain necessary legal and financial signatures.
• Communicate financial obligations to patients and collect fees at time of service as appropriate.
• Complete necessary regulatory forms with patient.
• Schedule follow-up appointments including specialty or ancillary services as needed.
• Process multi-channel messages related to patient and/or physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, prescriptions, and complaints.
• Notify patient or guarantor of anticipated financial responsibility including copays, deductibles, or coinsurances and collect accordingly.
• Perform cash posting following department guidelines.
• Independently work work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
• Maintain productivity and quality performance expectations.
• Accurately perform medical record maintenance and releases.
• Assist with referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
• Properly utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
