Job summary

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking an entry-level Patient Access Specialist to support Mercy Lorain Hospital in Lorain, OH. The role involves moving through patient rooms with a mobile computer, performing admitting duties, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

You will collect insurance information, verify demographics, explain consent forms, and support POS/billing processes while maintaining exceptional customer service and a compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of customer service experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCR certification required within 6 months of hire (company paid).

Responsibilities

• Assign MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, collect insurance information, process physician orders, use an overlay tool while delivering excellent service.
• Operate the telephone switchboard for calls.
• Adhere to policies and provide compassionate customer service.
• Meet point-of-service goals as assigned.
• Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts.
• Audit accounts and provide data to leadership.
• Pre-register patient accounts before visits.
• Obtain demographic, insurance and other patient information and explain consent forms.
• Explain and distribute patient education documents.
• Review eligibility in the insurance verification system and input benefit data for POS and billing.
• Screen medical necessity with ABN software and inform Medicare patients of possible non-payment.
• Distribute and document designated forms.
