Job summary

UTMB Health Alvin Primary & Specialty Clinic seeks a Patient Services Specialist I to enhance patient experience through registration, scheduling and care coordination. The role supports patients and clinicians, handling calls, billing info, and access to UTMB services with a focus on accuracy and empathy.

Responsibilities include registration, scheduling, financial counseling, and ensuring patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; relevant education/experience considered.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained.
• Proficiency with PC, Excel and Word; strong data and patient-care knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level customer service in interactions with patients and staff.
• Coordinates patient registration and pre-registrations with third-party coverage.
• Educates patients on billing processes and provides cost estimates.
• Schedules appointments and communicates with departments to meet needs.
• Ensures confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
• Documents calls and triages patient needs for appropriate action.
