Job summary

UTMB Health is looking for a Patient Services Specialist I for the Alvin Primary & Specialty Clinic. This role coordinates patient registration, scheduling, and access to UTMB services, while delivering high-level customer service and maintaining patient confidentiality.

The position requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and a commitment to excellent communication with patients, physicians, and staff. On-site schedule, Monday through Friday, with standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained during employment.
• Excellent customer service and strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level customer service in all interactions with patients and staff.
• Coordinate patient registration, scheduling, and arrival processes to ensure smooth visit flow.
• Educate patients on billing processes and financial responsibilities including third-party coverage.
• Verify eligibility and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and insurance information.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to internal controls and HIPAA requirements.
• Handle inquiries, triage issues, and advocate for patients across departments.
