Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Patient Access Associate to ensure patients have complete and accurate medical records, insurance details, and a clear understanding of financial responsibilities for services at OSF facilities.

The role requires exceptional customer service, strong problem solving, and the ability to navigate a multi-payer revenue cycle. Onsite work is required and training will cover revenue cycle processes within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year in office clerical or customer service setting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and website navigation.
• Strong problem solving, conflict management, time management, and communication skills.
• Completion of revenue cycle training/certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including demographics, insurance coverage, and registration details.
• Provide excellent patient service to create a positive first impression of OSF's services for patients and families, over the phone or in person.
• Use deductive reasoning to resolve issues in a complex, multi-payer environment.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF's services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.

Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation. Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills. Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.

Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology.
