Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Patient Access Associate to ensure patients have accurate medical records, insurance details, and clear financial information at check-in. The role emphasizes high-quality patient interactions and precise data entry across multiple payer scenarios.

This hourly position involves day shifts, training for 4-5 weeks on days, with 24 hours per week and coverage across outpatient areas from Danville (with Urbana shifts).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year in an office clerical or customer service setting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and website navigation.
• Complete role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each registered patient has a complete OSF medical record including demographics, insurance coverage and guarantor.
• Clarify services and financial responsibilities to patients while at the facility.
• Demonstrate excellent patient service and professional communication both over the phone and in person.
• Resolve issues in a multi-payer environment using deductive reasoning and logic.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

Primary location is Danville however shift work in Urbana is expected

Day Shift between the hours of 6a-530p Monday - Friday with rotating weekends and Holidays

24 hours a week

This is a float postion across supporting outpatient areas. Training will be 4-5 Weeks on day shift up to 40 hours.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology
