Job summary

Mass General Brigham's North Shore Medical Center is seeking an admissions clerk to arrange efficient inpatient admissions and coordinate hospital-based outpatient testing or procedures. You will ensure patient information is collected and patients are aware of policies and procedures.

You will interview patients or representatives, enter data into the computer system, and share information with ancillary departments while contributing to performance improvement and CQI activities on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English required.
• Analytical ability for numbers and situations.
• Typing speed of 40 words per minute.
• Familiarity with medical billing and managed care.
• Experience with office equipment in a medical setting.
• Customer service experience required.
• Associate degree in business or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and admission of individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing or procedures.
• Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
• Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database.
• Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
• Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities
