Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a hospital admissions clerk to coordinate efficient inpatient admissions and patient flow for hospital-based testing or procedures. You will collect patient information and ensure awareness of hospital policies and procedures, interviewing patients or representatives and entering data into the computer system.

The role requires English fluency, strong interpersonal and numerical analysis skills, with typing speed of 40 wpm.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes and speaks English; additional languages a plus.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Analytical ability for numbers and situations.
• Ability to type 40 wpm.
• Familiarity with medical billing; managed care and other medical insurance.
• Previous office experience or training with exposure to keyboard/computer.
• Previous experience or training in customer service.
• Associate Degree in business or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Arrange efficient and orderly admission of inpatients and patients undergoing hospital-based testing or procedures.
• Ensure patient information is collected and patients are aware of hospital policies.
• Interview incoming patients or representatives and enter information into the computer database.
• Distribute information to ancillary departments.
• Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities.
