Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Part-Time Laboratory Assistant - Pathological Admin to support day-to-day laboratory operations, specimen processing, and inventory with a focus on accurate record-keeping and compliance. Responsibilities include morgue handling, front- and back-end sample processing, and shipping to other sites.

The role requires a high school diploma with biology/chemistry credits, basic Excel/Word skills, and good communication. Prior lab exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree with 12 college credits in biology or chemistry.
• Laboratory experience handling blood and body fluids.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist lab staff with daily operations, specimen processing, and inventory management.
• Support pathology with morgue receipt, hand-offs and record-keeping.
• Ensure proper receipt, storage, and documentation of lab materials.
• Prepare and ship samples to other sites; handle front-end processing.
• Back-end processing: storage, tracking and disposal per policy.
• Maintain temperature/humidity logs and clean all work surfaces.
