Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Laboratory Assistant - Histology for a full-time day shift. The role involves assisting in the Histology lab, handling specimens, processing samples, and supporting the pathology team in daily operations.

Responsibilities include inventory management, instrument maintenance, and coordination with providers and other laboratories. Prior lab experience and basic Excel/Word skills are required; 1+ year in a lab setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Lab experience including handling open containers of blood and body fluids.
• Knowledge of computer applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist lab staff with day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including specimen management/processing, inventory management, instrument maintenance, and communications with providers and other laboratories.
• Assist Pathology Department with daily maintenance, receipt of bodies, record keeping, and morgue upkeep.
• Maintain supplies and reagents; notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
• Ensure proper receipt and storage of laboratory materials; document deliveries per NYU policy.
