Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk seeks a Laboratory Assistant - Pathological Admin for a part-time days schedule. You will support lab staff, manage specimens, and aid in morgue operations, inventory, and processing of samples for analysis.

You will help with front-end and back-end processing, maintain compliance logs, and communicate with providers. A High School Diploma with biology/chemistry credits and basic Excel/Word skills are required.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience handling blood and body fluids
• Strong computer skills including Excel and Word
• Excellent communication abilities required

Responsibilities

• Assist lab staff with day-to-day laboratory operations
• Handle specimen management and processing, inventory receipt
• Maintain morgue records and hand-off bodies as needed
• Receive goods and document according to NYU policies
• Prepare samples for analysis and process to storage or disposal
• Maintain logs for temperature, humidity, and safety equipment
• Review routine and stat pending lists and retrieve missed tests
• Answer calls and assist with test requirements and turnaround times
• Access automated test platforms to check sample status
• Assist with shipping of specimens to other sites
• Assist with inventory of blood products and supplies
• Perform other duties as assigned
