Job summary

Sorenson Communications is expanding our Video Relay Service (VRS). We are seeking Interpreters to provide Sign-to-Voice and Voice-to-Sign interpreting services. Part-time positions are available in the US and in Canada.

Responsibilities include interpreting between ASL and spoken English, maintaining licensure requirements, and complying with Sorenson standards and policies. Other duties include adapting to flexible shifts and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Interpreter certification as required by local regulations.
• 3 years’ interpreting experience preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
• Dexterity to operate computer and equipment.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English.
• Maintain compliance with licensure and certification requirements.
• Demonstrate compliance with Sorenson standards, FCC regulations and RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Demonstrate compliance with attendance policy.
• Promptly complete assigned tasks/duties within approved guidelines.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet VRS industry demands.
• Learn and implement new technologies.
• Work effectively in a team environment.
• Work with oversight including call monitoring, mentoring and evaluations.
• Work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
• Enhance interpreting skills through continued education training.
• Complete additional duties and assignments as needed.
