School Nutrition Services in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Part-Time Food Service Assistant for Boushall Middle School. The position covers a 5.5-hour shift per day, five days per week, in a warm school kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, some cafeteria experience, good math and reading skills, and a team-oriented attitude. Spanish language skills are a plus and safety and customer service are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Six months of experience in the preparation of food and serving for the school cafeteria preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepares garnishes and serves food items as required.
• Follows USDA/state/local guidelines while serving food on the line.
• Receives and stores food in stockrooms, freezers, and refrigerators.
• Cleans work surfaces, tables, counters, floors and equipment to sanitation standards.
• Assists in estimating, ordering, receiving, and stocking of food supplies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
