Richmond City Public Schools School Nutrition Services is hiring a Food Service Assistant for River City Middle School in Richmond, VA. This part-time position involves 5.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, working under the Cafeteria Manager and Area Supervisor.

The role requires basic food prep and serving duties, adherence to health guidelines, and the ability to work in a warm school kitchen environment. Prior cafeteria experience is preferred, with emphasis on reliable scheduling and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Six months of experience in food preparation and serving in a school cafeteria preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepares garnishes and serves food items to meet quality and merchandising guidelines.
• Follows USDA/state/local guidelines when serving food on the line.
• Receives, stores, and inventories food supplies.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment.
• Maintains sanitary conditions per health standards.
• Assists in estimating, ordering, receiving, and stocking food supplies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
