Job summary

School Nutrition Services at Richmond City Public Schools invites applications for a Food Service Assistant (Part-time) at Lucille Brown Middle School. The role involves preparing and serving meals in a busy school kitchen, with a 5.5 hour/day schedule and 5 days per week.

The position requires a high school education, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and good customer service. Prior cafeteria experience is preferred, and bilingual skills (Spanish) are a plus. Salary is $18.93 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Experience in school cafeteria food preparation is preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Bilingual skills including Spanish are a plus.
• Excellent customer service is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares garnishes and serves food items as required to ensure quality, quantity, flavor, and merchandising guidelines.
• Follows USDA state and local guidelines in the performance of duties serving food on the line.
• Receives and stores food in the stockroom, freezers, and refrigerators.
• Cleans work surface, eating and food preparation area to include tables, counters, floors, ceilings, walls, sinks, bins, ovens, freezers, refrigerators, slicers, and all other fixtures as required.
• Maintains proper sanitary conditions as required by health and safety standards.
• Washes pots, pans, kettles, and other cooking utensils.
• Assists in the estimating, ordering, receiving, and stocking of food supplies.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.
