Job summary

SafeSpot at Boston Medical Center seeks a Hotline Operator to serve as the frontline contact for confidential, harm-reduction oriented support. This part-time, remote role handles calls, data collection, and referrals while coordinating with opioid treatment and public health teams to improve access to treatment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent plus 1 year related experience.
• Bachelor's degree desirable.
• Experience in substance abuse or mental health setting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual/multilingual preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook; basic data management.
• Typing proficiency and basic math; strong organization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide hotline support for state resource center on opioid dependence.
• Offer crisis intervention and referral services.
• Coordinate Office-based Opioid Treatment program activities.
• Collect data for statistics and reporting.
• Assist clients with linkage to addiction services; detox and outpatient options.
• Triages walk-in patients for treatment; education and support.
• Screen potential patients.
• Back up medical assistant.
• Maintain wait lists in compliance with federal regulations.
• Update resources and materials for clients and families.
• Collaborate with Public Health Drug and Alcohol hotline staff.
• Support clinic functions: scheduling, filing, charts, referrals.
• Attend staff and state meetings and take minutes.
