Job summary

Takeda is hiring a part-time phlebotomist at the BioLife Plasma Center in West Des Moines, IA. The role includes greeting donors, venipuncture, and supporting plasmapheresis operations, with 4–6 hour shifts, 3+ days per week.

Daily pay is available, with evenings and weekend hours expected. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager, perform donor screening and phlebotomy, monitor donor safety, and assist with equipment setup and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift.
• Will work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees.
• Ability to lift to 5 lbs., and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs. and rarely 50 lbs.
• Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance.
• Because of potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1), 90% of work tasks require prolonged glove wear.
• 1 or more years minimum experience working in a customer or patient facing role is helpful

Responsibilities

• Greet donors as they enter and exit the donor floor.
• Perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine.
• Monitor donors during the donation process and manage donor reactions.
• Perform setup, verification, operation, and troubleshooting of plasmapheresis equipment within scope of training.
• Install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on plasmapheresis machines.
• Stock supplies, break down cartons and assist with proper disposal.
• Take and record donor pulse, blood pressure, and temperature; monitor DIS.
• Enter donor information into the Donor Information System (DIS).
• Coordinate donors to donor floor and compensate donors using the Debit Card system.
• Support center management in identifying operational opportunities for continuous improvement using 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen.
