Job summary

Houston Community College (HCC) seeks a technician to install, modify, troubleshoot and repair PC hardware and software. The role focuses on maintaining devices, performing routine maintenance, and assisting users with issues within the Technical Support area.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or related certification and at least 1 year of hardware/software support experience. Knowledge of virus protection and inventory management is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or certification in a related field is required.
• 1 year recent experience in hardware/software technical support is required.
• Experience at HCCS is considered on a two-for-one basis.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair personal computer hardware and software.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure good operating conditions.
• Communicate with users to detect possible problems.
• Assist in evaluating new equipment to be supported by Technical Support.
• Maintain inventory to ensure maintenance and repair of computers.
• Maintain up-to-date virus protection.
• Perform regular hard drive cleanup and maintenance.
• Maintain files for software documentation.
• Research and test new software packages.
