Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist - OP to manage patient scheduling, collect and verify demographics and insurance information, and coordinate outpatient appointments with physicians and staff.

You will work across multiple service areas, ensuring prior authorizations when needed, supporting complex sequencing of procedures, and maintaining a high level of patient sensitivity and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 2–3 years in customer service in hospital/physician office focusing on registration, scheduling, and insurance requirements.
• Ability to multitask and educate patients; strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Patient throughput: collect required information from referring physicians for reimbursement.
• Insurance entry: accurately complete enrollment and verify eligibility.
• Complex appointment scheduling: coordinate and schedule time-sensitive appointments.
• Template management: update scheduling templates across locations.
• Provide training and update training materials as needed.
• Meet with clinical team to plan and create scheduling templates in Epic.
