Corewell Health seeks a part-time Patient Access Specialist at Grand Rapids to assist patients, providers, and staff with navigating services and resolving issues. You will greet patients, manage registrations, verify demographics and insurance, and document calls in the EHR.

The role emphasizes accurate registration, check-in/out duties, and maintaining records while supporting health maintenance reminders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or other related fields.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a concierge - greets and communicates with patients or visitors.
• Performs clerical functions: answers practice phone calls; schedules patient appointments; orders supplies; generates patient letters; processes mail and deliveries; handles registrations.
• Identifies and reminds patients of health maintenance gaps.
• Documents patient phone calls in the EHR for call routing / resolution.
• Performs patient registration and check-in; confirms demographics and insurance information; assists with self-registration.
• Performs patient check-out: schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains patient medical records; uploads Right Fax documents into EPIC.
• Responsible for basic EMR/EHR scanning.
• Participates in safety initiatives and completes required competencies.
