Job summary

Corewell Health in Michigan seeks a part-time Patient Access Specialist to assist and educate patients, providers, and staff with navigating services. You will greet patients, schedule appointments, manage registrations, and document interactions in EPIC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of relevant experience in insurance billing, access management, patient financial services, electronic health records, lab service support or other related fields.

Responsibilities

• Greets and communicates with patients or visitors.
• Answers practice phone calls; schedules patient appointments using a decision tree where applicable; orders supplies; generates patient letters; processes/sorts mail and supply deliveries; processes registration reports; reminds patients of health maintenance gaps; documents patient calls in the EHR for routing/resolution.
• Registers patients and checks in/out, verifies demographics and insurance information; assists patients with self-registration and arrival; schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains patient medical records per standards; uploads documents into EPIC; basic EMR/EHR scanning.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigation measures; completes all safety competencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
