Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. seeks a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to enhance patient experience through pre-exam testing and clear explanation of procedures. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists, support both onsite and remote exams, and help transition patients to follow-up care with retail staff.

You’ll preauthorize insurance, manage exam bookings, and maintain accurate records in EMR. Training is provided, and the role may involve travel between locations.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and collect medical history data.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, testing, and video conferencing.
• Transition patient to retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books per company guidelines.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions.
• Instruct patients on contact lens insertion, care, and handling.
• Place contact lens orders and stock; notify patients when lenses are ready.
• Knowledge of contact lens brands and parameters; pull trials as requested.
• Maintain a clean environment and proper equipment for exams.
• Participate in training and obtain required clinical certifications.
• Flexible schedules including travel to other locations.
