Job summary

VisionWorks is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help create a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote exams, performing pre-exam tests, and explaining each step of the process. You will coordinate with Optometrists and guide patients along the initial journey.

The role includes assisting with both in-store and remote examinations, pretesting, insurance preauthorization, and maintaining accurate EMR records while ensuring a smooth

Qualifications

• One year of related experience is required.
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism required.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit pertinent information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations, documenting results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams: pre-testing, testing, and video conferencing documentation.
• Transition patient to retail associate with doctor recommendations.
• Understand MVC plans and articulate plan benefits to patients.
• Preauthorize insurance per SOPs.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books, including no-shows and cancellations.
• Maintain patient records and clean clinical environment.
