Job summary

AEG Vision in Arizona seeks an Optical Consultant to support optometrists and deliver outstanding patient care. You will help patients understand product and service recommendations, assist in selecting frames and lenses, and educate on insurance coverage while coordinating with the care team.

You will manage prescriptions, enter data into the EHR/ALE, and ensure accurate documentation. The role emphasizes customer service, sales, and collaboration in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor; sales experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient and explains products and services.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lens type, and lens treatments including coatings; align to patient needs.
• Maintain understanding of medical and vision insurance plans, including eligibility, benefits, copays, deductibles, authorizations, and coverage limitations.
• Enter prescription information into the EHR and ALE systems, ensuring proper documentation.
• Follow-up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready; escalate issues to management as needed.
• Dispense glasses with proper fit and comfort; perform eyewear adjustments and repairs.
• Proficient in using tools such as pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, and other hand tools.
• Interact with technicians and managers to obtain order updates and resolve questions.
