Job summary

The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Customer Adviser at Groesbeck to deliver direct customer service, handle circulation, provide reference assistance, and support technology training for patrons.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and comfort using library systems; you’ll also assist with programs and collections and help connect people with ideas.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills are required.
• Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
• Ability to work independently and with coworkers with minimal supervision.
• Ability to use library technology.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing carts up to 150 pounds.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Circulates materials, checks in/out, processes holds, registers patrons, and collects fees.
• Assists customers with technology.
• Shelves returned materials.
• Searches for requested materials.
• Provides readers’ advisory and reference services.
• Supports desk setup, bookdrop, delivery, ILS reports, supply orders.
• Assists with collection maintenance and weeding.
• Supports programs, displays, and meeting room approvals.
• Handles customer issues by referring to managers.
• Prepares and deposits money from fees.
• Acts as person-in-charge in leadership absence.
• Interprets library policies to the public.
• Supports mission of connecting people with ideas and information.
• Adheres to DEI and library standards.
