Job summary

Oswego Public Library District is seeking a part-time library assistant to support daily operations at the Oswego and Montgomery campuses. Duties include checking materials in and out, renewing items, issuing library cards, and promoting library programs.

The role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and good computer abilities. Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred, with Sunday and daytime availability being a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• One year of customer service or library experience preferred.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Clear, professional communication with the public and library team both in person and on the phone.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checking library materials in and out.
• Routing incoming and outgoing materials as required.
• Inspecting returned materials for damage and referring damaged material to the appropriate staff.
• Sorts returned library materials and either shelve them or place them in designated shelving areas; processes reserved materials.
• Maintaining patron accounts and issuing patron library cards.
• Greeting patrons and promoting materials, programs, events, and library services.
• Completing additional tasks as assigned.
