Job summary

Brown County Library is seeking Library Clerks for Pulaski and Weyers-Hilliard branches. Responsibilities include circulation duties, helping customers, processing holds, payments, and basic computer tasks.

Positions require a high school diploma and strong communication skills, with shifts at two local branches. Typical duties cover shelving, shelf-reading, program support, and daily branch operations, with a focus on friendly, professional service and teamwork within a diverse library

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform accurate cash handling.
• Sort efficiently in alphabetic or numeric order and understand library materials arrangement.
• Reshelve materials quickly and accurately with high speed and accuracy targets.
• Represent the Library professionally and maintain cooperative relations with staff and customers.
• Follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
• Meet flexible scheduling needs and adapt to changes in the work environment.
• Use basic computer skills and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general circulation and customer service functions.
• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Check in and out library materials accurately and efficiently.
• Process holds and activate library cards; assist with computer-related tasks.
• Use the catalog/circulation system to locate items and answer questions.
• Receive payments and manage cash drawer.
• Re-shelve materials and maintain shelf order and library displays.
• Assist with opening/closing duties and branch support as needed.
