Job summary

Nelson Connects is seeking an experienced HR leader to step into a hands-on Director of Human Resources role in San Anselmo, CA. You will oversee a small HR team, guide managers and staff on workplace concerns, and manage benefits and HR operations with Paycom.

The position is part-time (2–3 days/week) for about four to six months (Nov 2026–Apr 2027) with compensation of $65–$70 per hour, reflecting senior level responsibility and mission-driven impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Strong experience with employee relations, benefits, compliance, and HR operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day HR operations for a small HR dept.
• Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee performance management and employee evaluations via Paycom.
• Manage employee benefits enrollment, eligibility, billing, and broker relations.
• Supervise and support the HR Generalist.
• Partner with leadership on labor relations and labor agreements.
• Ensure HR policies comply with federal, state, and local laws.
