St. Matthew Catholic Parish & School in San Mateo, CA seeks an organized Human Resources & Payroll Assistant to provide part-time administrative support across parish and school.

Working with leadership and our contracted HR consultant, you will help with payroll, onboarding, offboarding, records, benefits communications, and compliance tasks. This role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on HR/payroll experience in a mission-driven community.

Qualifications

• Administrative or customer service experience preferred.
• HR/payroll exposure is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to learn Paylocity and HR processes.

Responsibilities

• Support biweekly payroll and timekeeping administration, including reviewing timecards and coordinating corrections.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including HRIS setup, background checks, TB clearance, and documentation.
• Maintain confidential personnel records and HR files in Paylocity and related systems.
• Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment materials and communications.
• Provide administrative support for leaves and workers' compensation matters and track dates.
• Maintain HR compliance records and training documentation.
• Support recruiting tasks: job postings, applicant correspondence, interview scheduling.
• Serve as a first point of contact for payroll/HR questions and escalate when needed.
