Job summary

RTI International is seeking self-motivated and outgoing individuals to work as Part-Time Field Interviewers on the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG). You will travel to households, screen participants, and administer in-person interviews using a project-provided tablet.

The role offers a flexible schedule with ~20 hours per week, including weekends and evenings, through December 2029. Strong English communication and discretion are essential for sensitive topics and data collection.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Effective communication skills through speech and listening.
• Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking.
• Available for training and data collection period.
• Able to successfully complete training.
• Must have a valid US driver’s license and reliable personal automobile for business use.
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other equipment.
• Access to password-protected Wi-Fi for data transmissions and responsibilities.
• Able to keep project information confidential.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and after dark.
• Comfortable asking survey questions on sensitive subjects.
• Willing to work ~20 hours per week, including weekends and evenings.
• Comfortable working in unfamiliar areas.

Responsibilities

• Travel to selected households to recruit study participants.
• Screen for eligibility and conduct in-person NSFG interviews when selected.
• Interact with participants and approach households without prior appointments.
• Conduct confidential data collection using project tablet.
• Transmit data as scheduled and complete time/expense reports.
• Attend virtual team meetings and training as required.
• Support administrative duties and maintain equipment security.
