Job summary

Physicians Eyecare Group in Las Cruces, NM seeks a part-time Certified Nurse Practitioner to join our new Eyecare surgical center. The NP will provide comprehensive eye care, including ocular assessments, and deliver integrative optometric care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requires an active NM NP license, DEA, MSN or DNP, and at least 2 years NP experience; ophthalmology experience preferred. On-site role with flexible schedule and opportunities in advanced eye care.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted NP license in NM.
• Current DEA registration or NM eligibility.
• MSN or DNP from an accredited program.
• Minimum 2 years NP clinical experience; ophthalmology or integrative medicine preferred.
• Proficient with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity testing, refraction assessments, and anterior/posterior segment evaluations.
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, glaucoma (co-management), and diabetic eye disease.
• Co-manage pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, and other ophthalmic procedures.
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (e.g., OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when findings exceed NP scope or require surgical intervention.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely EHR documentation.
• Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements.
