Job summary

Physicians Eyecare Group is seeking a compassionate Certified Nurse Practitioner in New Mexico to deliver comprehensive eye care and integrate ophthalmic services with patient well‑being. The role requires an active NP license in NM and the ability to co‑manage perioperative care with ophthalmology teams.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of NP experience, strong EHR skills, and a commitment to evidence‑based optometric and nursing practice within a surgical eye care setting.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted NP license in NM.
• DEA registration or NM eligibility.
• MSN or DNP from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years NP experience; primary care/ophthalmology preferred.
• Proficient with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity testing, refraction, and anterior/posterior segment evaluations.
• Co-manage pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, and other ophthalmic procedures.
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when NP scope is exceeded.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and collaborate with clinical support staff and stay current with best practices.
