Job summary

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time UCHC Technician I for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. The role involves supporting the clinical and administrative medical team on site in the Prison setting.

Expected duties include taking vitals, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, maintaining equipment and stock, and forwarding medication orders to the pharmacy. Position is evening, 20 hours, nonexempt. Onsite work required.

Qualifications

• Valid CMA, EMT, or CNA certification.
• Minimum 2 years of related healthcare experience.
• CPR certification and valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in EMR.
• Assists the physician/AP with procedures, including preparing the inmate for examination.
• Obtains specimen collection and handling, including blood draws.
• Assists with cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment; maintains supply stock.
• Aggregates orders of medications and forwards to pharmacy.
• Maintains supply stock in examination rooms.
