Job summary

Kenosha Human Development Services is seeking a Crisis Counselor to provide walk-in, telephone and mobile crisis interventions. The role includes client linkage and follow-up to resources, with shifts on 3rd, and pay starting at $21.20 per hour.

The position is part-time, Non-Exempt, located at the Crisis Prevention Center in Kenosha, WI. Strong English skills and a willingness to drive clients are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to observe, interpret, assess, and document human behaviors.
• Ability to maintain active pace for up to an eight-hour shift.
• Professional attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and to maintain solid boundaries.
• Upon hire, must complete minimum of 40 hours training.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English.
• Be willing to utilize personal vehicle to transport clients.
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must carry own auto insurance with adequate coverage.
• Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily.
• Ability to give and accept feedback as part of a team.
• Be willing to learn and work with treatment philosophies.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Crisis intervention for Kenosha County; respond promptly and determine on-site needs.
• Refer and authorize county-funded services as appropriate.
• Assist in emergency psychiatric inpatient or involuntary care decisions.
• Refer/admit to crisis stabilization and facilitate transport when needed.
• Assist Law Enforcement, defuse victims and refer services.
• Maintain documentation and complete required supervision/training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.
