Kenosha Human Development Services is seeking a Crisis Counselor to provide walk-in, telephone, and mobile crisis interventions at the Crisis Prevention Center in Kenosha, WI. The role reports to the Crisis Program Manager and is part-time with a non-exempt status and a starting wage of $21.20 per hour.

The Crisis Counselor will connect clients with community resources, conduct crisis assessments, and develop safety plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to observe, interpret, assess and document human behaviors.
• Maintain active pace for up to an eight hour shift.
• Professional attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and maintain boundaries.
• Must complete minimum of 40 hours training upon hire.
• Effective English communication (written and spoken).
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must carry auto insurance with 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage.
• Maintain records and document case notes daily.
• Ability to give and accept feedback as part of a team.
• Able to traverse workspace and community frequently.
• Willing to learn and work with treatment philosophies.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• 2nd shift weekdays; weekend/holidays options possible.

Responsabilités

• Crisis intervention for Kenosha County; respond to caller; assess crisis and safety plan.
• Refer/provide authorization for county-funded services as appropriate.
• Assist in emergency psychiatric inpatient hospital authorization and involuntary care decisions.
• Refer/admit to crisis stabilization (KARE Center); provide transportation as needed.
• Respond to crime scenes with law enforcement; provide referrals and quick safety planning.
• Complete continuing education and clinical supervision; maintain task records.
• Perform other work as required by the Emergency Mental Health Services Supervisor.
• Promptly complete all required documentation.
