Job summary

BMCHS is seeking an Ambulatory Services Representative I to coordinate front-end patient access, including registration, insurance verification, scheduling and related administrative duties in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The role supports the Ambulatory Float Pool with part-time scheduling and requires strong customer service, confidentiality, and computer skills. Prior clinical exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent or HS/GED with two years relevant experience.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of health information.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and hospital registration/billing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Reception & customer service
  • Create/verify Master Patient Index (MPI)
  • Registration demographics
  • Visit management
  • Appointment scheduling (consults, tests, procedures, follow-ups)
  • Insurance/coverage verification
  • Co-payment collection
  • Front-end registration & insurance edits
  • Pre-authorization and referral coordination
  • Referral work lists
  • General administrative duties (forms, phones, filing, appointments, photocopying, faxing, mailings)
  • Other related duties as needed.
