Job summary

Read Better Be Better in Mesa, AZ is seeking part-time After-School Literacy Program Coaches to guide a cohort of young readers and Leaders at designated schools.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, classroom management, patience, and experience with children in a school setting. Training and ongoing PD provided; schedule is 5–10 hours weekly, with two afternoons on-site.

This is a mission-driven role with opportunities to grow within a developing nonprofit.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Preferred candidates are enrolled in a relevant degree program or have experience working with children in a school setting.
• Classroom management skills and a patient personality are key components we look for in our Program Coaches.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the after-school literacy program at assigned site.
• Monitor curriculum progress and support readers and Leaders.
• Promote a safe, positive learning environment.
• Attend weekly meetings with Program Coordinator and participate in professional development workshops.
• Program ends with a graduation event at the assigned school; program is semester-based; coaches can return semesterly.
