Job summary

LACOE Expanded is seeking an After School Program Leader to support South LA/Watts sites. The role is part-time with afternoon shifts, focusing on academic, cultural and recreational enrichment for youth in a safe, engaging environment.

Core hours are 2:00PM - 6:30PM with opportunities to participate in school-year and summer activities. Applicants should have experience with K-12 youth and strong teamwork skills; bilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to critical incidents.
• Must have HS diploma or GED and have passed ASAS-LA Exam, or have an Associates degree or higher, or two years of college.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, guardians, and school staff.
• Provide attendance tracking data and report progress as part of quality improvement.
• Create a creative learning environment with supplies and materials.
• Actively supervise students to ensure safety and engagement.
• Communicate with school staff and guardians about activities and events.
• Attend required staff meetings and professional development.
• Travel to various sites and events as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
