Job summary

LACOE Expanded is seeking a Part-Time Program Leader to support after-school programming in Los Angeles, supervising activities and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for K-12 students.

You will work under the ASAS-LA Program Coordinator, planning daily activities, coordinating with school staff and guardians, and helping organize resources and events.

Evening/weekend hours and occasional travel may be required; fluency in another language is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in grades K-12 in after-school or youth programs.
• Ability to work with school district staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with after-school program quality criteria.
• Effective communication and responsiveness in emergencies.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED; or two years of college; or Associate’s degree or higher.
• Criminal background clearance via fingerprint.
• TB test clearance.
• Physical ability to lead and participate in activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in a language other than English highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementation of the daily after-school program under the direction of a Program Coordinator.
• Maintain a 20:1 ratio using dynamic student recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, guardians, and school staff to increase program visibility.
• Maintain attendance tracking data and report progress and concerns as part of continuous quality improvement.
• Prepare supplies and create a creative enrichment environment; monitor supply needs.
• Facilitate age-appropriate learning experiences and actively supervise students.
• Maintain a professional attitude with stakeholders.
• Communicate with school staff and guardians about activities and needs.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Supervise students on field trips and events as needed.
• Distribute and track supper/snack per school protocols.
• Maintain program space and report hazards to supervisor.
• Maintain all materials/equipment in good condition.
• Ensure safety standards are followed in all activities.
• Evening and weekend availability; occasional travel to off-site meetings.
